Ahhh Matchsticks Series by Charly Fasano
Check out a preview of Charly Fasano’s new series of drawings and short film.
Charly Fasano here. Check out a little preview of my newest project.
Ahhh Matchsticks is a dance before the flame.
Ahhh Matchsticks is a series of drawings that I have created on canvas and turned into a series of animated sequences. It is a study of how patterns and movement emerge from random configurations of an item that can provide safety and warm or produce unmitigated disaster.
As if someone dumped a box of matchsticks on the floor, the unplanned patterns that emerge in my drawings create their own kind of movement. When arranged in stop-motion sequences at varying frame rates, the drawings become an undulating dance of shapes that are rhythmically hypnotizing.
Here is a sample of some of the film sequences. The series of drawings range in size from 6x6 inches to 30x30 inches and are drawn with acrylic paint pens on un-stretched canvas.
Stay tuned for more news and previews of upcoming Ahhh Matchsticks zines (Walk Off Hot Issues 7 and 8) and short film screenings.

New Block Printed T-Shirt!
New block printed t-shirts by Charly Fasano are in the Webshop!
These block printed t-shirts by Charly Fasano are inspired by an Alabama man named Sim Lovejoy. He was a legendary crack-shot with a flip, better known to most as a slingshot. He passed on his passion for slingshots by making over 10,000 “flips” for whoever asked for one in-person or by mail without ever expecting anything in return.
Block printing or relief printing is a process by which the artist carves an image into a hard surface like wood or linoleum with a sharp carving tool, essentially creating a very large stamp. Ink is applied with a roller or brayer and the stamp is applied to the shirt with an enormous amount of pressure. A t-shirt is born.
Every block printed image on these t-shirts are unique in that the hand application of the printing or stamping process is a one of a kind impression. Each print will appear just a bit different than the next. That is what makes hand-printed apparel created in small batches such unique items.
Printed with Speedball Fabric Block Printing Ink on Gildan Softstyle 4.5 oz Pre-shrunk 100% Cotton shirts.
Please allow 3 to 5 biz days for us to ship them to you.
Studies of the Poudre River by Vincent Cheap
Enjoy a collection of new painting studies of the Cache la Poudre River in northern Colorado by Vincent Cheap.
Vincent Cheap has drifted from the bustling city streets of Denver and found himself a quiet spot along the banks of the Cache la Poudre River in northern Colorado. It seems like he’s taken the electric colors of Miami and the Caribbean and thrown them across the surface of a Rocky Mountain river. The sketchy silhouettes of the trees create movement against massive clusters of high elevation clouds. Neon shadows dance like fire with patches of drought parched grasses. Get drawn along by the river’s current while you browse through eight new painting studies of nature as only Cheap can create.
Short Film - Porch Roar by Charly Fasano
Watch a short film by Charly Fasano featuring his poem “Porch Roar” and the music of Vincent Cheap’s old band Booger Sugar.
Here’s another short film by Charly Fasano featuring the music of his pals Booger Sugar. “Porch Roar” is a poem that was initially included in Fasano’s multimedia book entitled Excuse Me, Did You Drop Your Dreams, released by Fast Geek Press in 2012. Before QR Codes were all the rage, Fasano inserted them onto pages next to the poems throughout the book in order to link to recordings and films he created. The whole project was a way for Fasano to combine print media and the digital world to create an immersive, multimedia experience. Enjoy the future past.

After the After Party Party
Phil Collins says it’s after midnight late on stereo,
a skinny dip kind of late.
Peel off the wrinkles
crash is on at the
after the after party party.
Open shirts with four buttons down
mustaches
mase red noses
blood stained peepers
jacuzzi
squirt gun uzi
fake chains.
Flop through younger games
wrapt in stolen tuxedo.
Eavesdrop like yellow chases solid gold.
Network it.
Too much eye contact.
Just smile and say New York a lot.
Free drinks for the big thirsty.
When this is over
we will shuffle to
post-breakfast pre-brunch
Big crash is go
at the after the after
party party.

Pusher
The good listener’s 45 minute hour
and pharmacy tool box.
My therapist gives me the same pills he gives himself.
Empty pen inks its last prescription.
The joystick that steers my needle
towards more than normal.
Add to my medicine collections and
remote control robot fuck all.
Easy swallow
less stress
colorless.
Pastel my neon impulse
bridle my flinch to quit and think out loud.
Throwback fist fulls.
Take more pills to fix all the things these pills are already doing to me.
Knowing all along, most problems are solved by drinking more water.

Door Knob Series by Charly Fasano
Door knobs assume a lot of tasks in our world that we take for granted. Charly Fasano’s Door Knob drawings contemplate some of these situations.
Door knobs have to be one of the most taken for granted tools in modern history. We use them constantly: countless grabs and twists and pulls. They also perform tasks and carry the weight of a lot of situations beyond keeping our doors securely closed. Here is a short series of drawings by Charly Fasano that contemplate multiple situations that door knobs help us without getting much credit.
If you are interested in any of these drawings and they are not listed in our store please contact us by clicking HERE!
“Anyone Can Be a Dentist” - To everyone out there who remembers that a door knob can pull a loose tooth if your dad or older brother slams it hard enough.
“Go Away, We’re Busy” - The tie on the door knob in most cases means that the inhabitants of a room do not want to be disturbed because they are having sex. They may also call sex “doin’ taxes” or “sleeping”.
“Gas Station Bathroom Key” - It is amazing the lengths to which gas stations will go to keep customers from stealing their bathroom key. The key-chain usually becomes a collection of the most random items that will keep a person from putting it into their pocket.

Matchstick Series Drawings by Charly Fasano
Come check out the peculiar configurations of Charly Fasano’s latest Matchstick Series drawings on canvas.
Don’t play with matches, don’t play with fire. A dumped box of easy strikes is the chaos before the blaze.
Matchstick Series drawings by Charly Fasano are riffed abstract configurations created with acrylic paint pen on 16x20 inch canvas. He looks at every piece as a different jumbo box of matches dumped on the floor. It is an exercise recognizing certain patterns upon first impression, then using that quick glance as a template for composition and fluidity. From there, Fasano randomly lets the shape “run” around the canvas similar to how a fire starts and spreads. He is also working on using more “static” patterns that resemble shapes of bird wings, cascading water, hanging fruit, bee-hives or whatever the viewer decides it is for themselves.
He is currently working on Matchstick drawings that are 30x30 inches and more to explore where he can go with this idea on a larger and larger scale. Enjoy these pieces and stay tuned for more coming soon.

Welcome to Percolator Drawings Part 1 by Charly Fasano.
Enjoy a portion of the percolator and vintage coffee pot series of drawings that I’ve been working on. Coffee is a huge part of the daily routine of people from cultures around the world. The design and shape of percolators tell stories of location, influence and practicality. The different designs of percolators and coffee pots provide an endless amount of research and stories. The old adage that “everybody is doing it” is truth when it comes to coffee.
